OUR TIPS FOR DURABLE PIECES

Taking care of your clothes also means taking care of their story.

At Grace & Mila, we design pieces meant to accompany your daily life, season after season. Beyond the quality of the garments, their longevity depends on how we care for them. Proper washing, natural drying, and appropriate storage help preserve the fibers, colors, and shape of your clothes for longer.
Discover our tips for taking care of your pieces and easily adopting more sustainable habits.

The 5 essential steps

1. Space out washes
2. Wash at a low temperature
3. Adjust the amount of detergent
4. Air dry
5. Repair rather than replace

KNITWEAR, COTTON, VISCOSE:
OUR SPECIFIC CARE TIPS

Each fiber has its own characteristics. To ensure your Grace & Mila garments last, always tailor their care to their composition and, above all, follow the instructions on their label.

knitwear

PRESERVING SHAPE AND SOFTNESS

To preserve its shape, feel, and comfort, avoid washing your knitweartoo often. Opt for hand washing or a delicate cycle, either cold or at a maximum of 20°C, according to the care label instructions. Do not wring out your knitwear after washing. Gently squeeze it to remove excess water, then lay it flat to dry to prevent it from stretching. Some natural fibers, such as wool, react to heat and may shrink during washing. Gentle steam can help the fibers regain their softness and shape.

The key to making a difference: always dry your knitwear flat and avoid high temperatures.

cotton

PRESERVE FIBERS AND COLORS

Cotton cotton generally holds up well to machine washing. To protect its fibers and reduce the risk of shrinkage, wash at 30°C when the care label allows. Wash colored pieces with similar colors. If there is a stain, spot-treat it before washing the whole garment: this may save an unnecessary wash cycle. When ironing, choose a temperature suited to the fabric composition and iron inside out if possible.

The small step that makes a difference: spot-treat minor stains instead of washing the entire garment every time.

viscose

PRESERVE ITS DRAPE AND FLOW

The viscose requires special care to preserve its drape and feel. Whenever possible, we recommend hand washing or machine washing at a maximum of 30°C on a delicate cycle with a gentle spin to help prevent it from losing its shape. Avoid wringing the garment. To preserve its shape, dry it flat or on a hanger, depending on its construction. If needed, iron it gently inside out at a low temperature or on the silk setting.

The little step that makes a difference: wash it less often and avoid high temperatures to preserve the softness and drape of viscose.

AND WHAT IF A PIECE NEEDS A SECOND LIFE?

Taking care of a garment also means knowing how to repair it rather than parting with it at the first sign of wear.
A loose button or a seam coming undone does not necessarily mean the piece has reached the end of its life. Repairing, transforming, passing on, donating, or reselling: there are many ways to extend the life of a garment and prevent it from being thrown away prematurely.

THE RIGHT MOVE: FOLLOW THE LABEL

Every Grace & Mila garment has a label specifying care recommendations suited to its composition and construction. These instructions remain your best reference for preserving your piece over time.
A sustainable piece is also one that you pamper enough to keep for a long time.
