OUR SELECTION OF MATERIALS

The right balance, our signature

Behind every Grace & Mila piece, there is a choice. Our teams regularly explore new materials, test them, and study what they can bring to our collections. Their drape, feel, comfort, durability, and finish fully contribute to the identity of a piece.

We move forward in this way, season after season, with a simple ambition: to better choose the materials that make up our collections and create pieces designed to be worn and to last, without losing sight of our standards and the sought-after balance between style, quality, and fair pricing.

THE FIBERS WE FAVOR

Two complementary families

We work with two main families of fibers, each chosen for its own unique qualities.

Natural fibers- cotton, linen, wool - retain their original composition: cotton is chosen for its everyday softness, linen for its lightness and summery freshness, and wool for its warmth and natural suppleness.
Cellulosic fibers- viscose, lyocell, TENCEL™ Modal - derived from processed plant materials, provide fluidity and a supple drape for naturally feminine silhouettes.

Whether natural or cellulosic, each of these fibers offers different qualities of touch, comfort, and drape, which fully contribute to the character of our pieces.

CERTIFICATIONS PRESENT IN OUR COLLECTIONS

Choices that commit us

Some of our materials come with independent certifications that help regulate their origin, production conditions, or traceability.

The LENZING™ ECOVERO™ certificationconcerns a viscose made from wood sourced from certified or controlled sources. Its production requires at least 50% less water and generates at least 50% fewer CO₂ emissions than generic viscose.

The RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) certificationconcerns wool from farms certified according to criteria including sheep welfare and land management. It also ensures the traceability of certified wool throughout the supply chain.

RECYCLED MATERIALS IN OUR COLLECTIONS

A gradual integration

We are progressively integrating recycled materials into our collections, notably recycled polyester and recycled wool.

This approach allows us to give a second life to existing materials. As with all our materials, their selection is based on the same criteria: feel, drape, and hold. Polyester, whether recycled or not, remains present in certain pieces for its functional qualities: durability, ease of care, and good shape retention. Its use is always well-considered, depending on the product and its intended use.

In this way, we seek, for each creation, the right balance between style, quality, usage, and price.

A touch of green

Our Home base

In 2020, we created Un Brin de Vert, our in-house label used to identify items in our collections that meet specific criteria regarding their composition. Today, a Brin de Vert item must be composed of more than 50% natural fibers according to the criteria defined by Grace & Mila.
Brin de Vert is a label specific to Grace & Mila and not an independent certification. It reflects our desire to gradually evolve our collections, season after season, toward more natural materials. It is a progressive and transparent commitment that reflects our desire to move in the right direction while remaining true to our DNA.
